"Giving you peace of mind in a challenging world"

RPS Partnership: FAQ's

RPS provides training programmes to suit your needs. We are here to assist you to develop your staff, allowing them to learn and apply their learning so that they grow their skills, confidence and expertise whilst travelling.  Our training consultants craft training programmes to ensure that not only is there good learning during your time with us, but that the learning is retained and applied in the workplace.

Powerpoint presentations alone won’t do that. RPS recognises the importance of focusing on the needs of the group we are working with to ensure the programme achieves its learning outcomes.

We recognise that one size does not fit all and we focus your staff on their individual learning and the skills gaps they need to close. It can be made up of a combination of formal and informal training, activities and opportunities that help participants grow their talents and skills.

We design bespoke courses for your travellers; which may include personal security, how to handle foreign airports, military checkpoints as well as getting from A to B safely.  We offer programmes for your Executives, which are designed to cater for their busy lives and may include dealing with the media and ensuring that their personal lives stay personal. We also offer programmes for your trainers to ensure that they conform to national qualifications as well as performance profiling which may assist you to identify the strengths and weaknesses of your team.

What does HET or HEAT Training stand for?

Hostile Environment (Awareness) Training. This type of training prepares you for travel to difficult, challanging and maybe new countries as well as sometimes remote locations.

What countries would this type of training be useful for?

A country or region that is subject to war, insurrection, civil unrest, or extreme levels of terrorism and banditry.  In many cases, the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) will have issued direct guidelines to either avoid travel to that area, or to make specialist security preparations.

Where can I find up to date information on the situation in the country I am visiting?

RPS Partnership work with partners and contacts  and all our training staff have recent experience of operating in these regions and can draw on these sources to provide an up to date picture of what is going on. Just give  us a call and we can support you.

Why do I need to learn about Crisis Management?

Having the ability and know-how to recognise the signs of an impending crisis situation, or deal with an unexpected catastrophe, will ensure your organisation is prepared to continue business whilst keeping you and your staff safe.

What do you define as a Crisis?

An unexpected, emergency situation that threatens to harm you or your organistaion.  The cause could be anything from a natural disaster, through to crime, terrorism or civil war. if you can't deal with it, then it's a crisis!

Who needs to do a First Aid Course?

The short answer is....everybody!  All workplaces require an appointed person to be trained in first aid.  This requirement increases in any area where there is an increased risk of accident or injury.  In a hostile environment, where medical support services are restricted or simply unavailable, we would recommend all members of your team to have increased first aid training. We also run accredited courses for this.

Are your overseas run courses culturally sensitive and appropriate?

Yes.  Our instructors are highly qualified and have gained considerable experience delivering training to diverse individuals and organisations throughout the world.   Through their experience they are fully aware and sensitive to different cultures and what is appropriate. We have experienced female trainers, should you feel this is more appropriate.

Are your courses solely for those going to a hostile environment?

No.  Although we believe enhanced first-aid skills are essential in a hostile environment, we also recommend them for travelling in less-developed, remote or sparsely populated areas of the world.

Why do a Driver Training Course?

Having the ability to drive an unfamiliar vehicle off-road and in extreme road conditions, coupled with the ability to anticipate hazards will enhance your personal safety whilst working or travelling in the developing world.

In what type of scenario might I need the skills taught on the course?

Our training covers off-road driving, as well as recovery techniques, planning considerations and ROSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) accredited advanced driving skills.

Are your driving courses Accredited?

Yes.  We offer BORDA (British Offroad Driving Association) and ROSPA accredited training, or can tailor specific packages based on your needs.
