Crazy Friday -gunman confesses to TV cameraman then hijacks his car

This week's Crazy Friday comes from Australia and is the moment when a cameraman gets his car stolen by a crazy man on the run.

Australian TV news cameraman Peter Steer films the moment he was flagged down by a man on the run, who confesses to him, then has a sudden change of heart and steals his car at gunpoint before smashing into petrol station

A cameraman working for an Australian TV channel was held at gunpoint and carjacked by an armed man on Thursday on the Sunshine Coast.

The man was wanted for allegedly assaulting his partner before fleeing on his motorbike.

Channel 7 News' Peter Steer, who was on the road to cover the assignment, was flagged down by motorbike rider who he found in floods of tears. The weeping man, with blood on his hands, then confessed to him that "he had done an extremely bad thing".

Mr Steer called police but before the officers arrived, the gunman changed his mind and pointing a gun at journalist stole his car and sped off. With the police in pursuit, he managed to smash the car into a road sign outside a petrol station, before crashing into a gas tank causing it to leak fuel.

He then proceeded to ask a man at the petrol station for cigarette lighter while heading towards the leaking fuel container, before armed police arrested him.

The man in his forties was charged with one count each of attempted murder, armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of wilful damage, according to the 7 News channel.
