7 June 2016 - RPS Partnership

As you know, RPS Partnership has just come back from Tunisia, where we ran phase two of our Training of Trainers for the the Institute of War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), in collaboration with Chiron Resources.

Contact us on [email protected] for more information  on this and other Training of Trainer projects. We have succesfully carried out this type of training in Brazil, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Iraq and Finland.

Our Training of Trainers (TOT) phase two was adapted from the Level 3 in Education and Training certificate in the UK and tailored to fit the capabilities and time availalbe for the local trainers.

Click here to see our trainees at work during the course. Watch them being taught, then teaching and carrying out practical scenario training on their own, guided by RPS Partnership trainers at first and then on their own. Well done!

Last time, we taught them the roles and responsibilities of a trainer; something which ensures that they are inclusive in their training despite different cultural nuances. We taught learning styles and preferences as well as ensuring that they can include interesting and engaging teaching skills in their training sessions. Getting away from powerpoint and ensuring that other teaching techniques are included is always a challenge for new trainers. This time, we concentrated on more advanced teaching techniques.

Our trainee trainers learned how to run casualty scenarios and to make up role players to look like casualties; all using products they can find in their supermarkets in Tripoli. We concentrated on running their own practical training. The learned how to manage the class, how to keep control when everyone starts talking, how to manage those talkative students in their own classes.

We at RPS Partnership are proud of our new trainers. They will need a lot of support and we will ensure they get this together with mentoring over the next few months. Please watch them here as they worked their way through phase two of the training. Watch them as they learn and as they progress to teaching a full two day course on their own.
