Back working in Kurdistan

Posted: 01/07/2021

Finally we can travel again and we are so pleased that over one year later, we are back in Kurdistan as our first project post Covid 19 Lockdowns.

We are delighted to be able to report that we are back to what we do best...travelling to our clients to see what they need, then working with them to find solutions. RPS Partnership started working with EMMA organization for development in Erbil at the end of last month.

"Emma is a Kurdish word that means “we”. The name of the organisation defines us as it is our principle to work together as one team and from different backgrounds and beliefs. It includes everyone."

Emma Organization was established in 2013 by a group of women activists and experts in various fields, such as gender equality, law, education, health and mental health. They are a non-profit organisation providing programmes to the community in general, particularly women and vulnerable groups in the Kurdistan Region. They champion Gender Equality, Rehabilitation, Capacity Building and Development.

Our MD, Caroline, has just returned from Iraq where she reviewed their security protocols and will be working with the fantastic team to ensure that all the staff spread aorund Kurdistan stay safe whilst they are working fpr EMMA. We looked at security, safety and working practices. All great stuff and we are so proud to chosen to work with them and Medica Mondiale, based in Germany.

"Looking forward to going back after the summer to work with EMMA to undertake training for their staff in how to use security and safety protocols at work. We plan to run some realistic scenarios so that it makes it real for everyone! Slightly weird getting on a plane again, but everything is still the same with travelling, except that we now have to plan a bit more, wear masks and take Covid tests." said Caroline.

Contact us on [email protected] if you want to take any training in how to travel post Covid.

Please do call us if you need any advice or support to work in Iraq and the localised area of Kurdistan.
