Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEAT)
We are delighted to finish our latest project in Lebanon. Organised by the ACOS Alliance, we trained local journalists from the region, who are working in difficult, remote and often hostile environments. We partnered with the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF), to provide trainers and a huge well done to Cath (RPS Partnership) and Jeff (IWMF) for their input, enthusiasm and experience in running what was a fantastic course.
We ran a 4-day Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) as well as a 2-day First Aid refresher course which included 1 day of medical training and 1 day IT and Security training; all of which took place in Beirut.
We got some great feedback from our delegates and we thought we would share what they said.
What Leila is Saying.....
"HEAT training with Cath and Jeff has given me the skills and confidence to feel that I will be able to deal with security challenges on reporting assignments in potentially hostile locations.
This allows me to focus on the journalistic tasks at hand with more peace of mind, as well as increased comfort in knowing that my first aid skills could help my colleagues and myself survive if the worst were to happen. It has also given my employers increased assurance when sending me to report in dangerous environments.
This is the second time I have trained with Cath and Jeff and the information they provide, as well as their ability to communicate that information in a way that sticks, is second to none.
I can’t recommend this training enough.
Thank you! Leila" *
What Sophie is Saying.....
"I am very glad I had the opportunity to attend this 2-day Refresher course : it was exactly what I was needing - a good update on digital security with the latest technologies, a very good reminder of priorities and best moves in case of medical emergencies, very good tips to be put at use in dire situation of shootings or kidnappings... The training was accurate and very practical. It definately gives more confidence for my next assignments in conflict or post-conflict countries."
Best, Sophie" *
