Training with the Women in Security in Kenya
Saturday saw our third training session with WISE in Kenya. Well what an amazing morning we had. WISE is the brainshild of Monicah Kimeu who is the Secretary General of this body of women in Kenya, all key players in the security sector in East Africa. Togther, we are partnering on a six month training programme for all these security managers, directors and consultants, led by RPS Partnership and facilitated by our friends and colleagues in the international community partnering together to share epxeriences and learning.
First up was coffee, always important, and then a quick chat about how we are all faring and then into our subject for the morning: "conflict management in the workplace and at home".
Claire gave us some top tips on how to recognise when we are all heading towards conflict at home or at work and then how to deal with it, preempt it and how to decrease our reactions to it. Do contact her if you are interested in this type of training and to view the other courses that she runs online or in person. Her website is here.
Sharon walked us through what she has learnt from 30 years in the security sector. She showed us how she has managed conflict, gave us examples of what she has dealt with in her career and allowed us all to learn from her wealth of knowledge and experience.
Both are amazing women and we were so appreciative for them giving their time to us all.
We are already looking forward to next month, when we will be looking at more lessons we can learn from all working in the security sector. Thank you WISE and enjoy your month til we meet again.
