Hostile Environment Training Worldwide
RPS Partnership provides stimulating and realistic training for international NGOs and humanitarian workers, oil and gas employees as well as journalists. As seen on ReliefWeb, our courses are designed for those travelling to and working in complex, remote or challenging locations, as well as high crime areas and areas where there is a high threat of terrorism.
Our worldwide course brings the training to your location; either your offices, a local hotel or a convenient training venue. We have run training in portacabins at a gas head in the desert as well as in a gold mine in the middle of the jungle.
We specialise in making training courses as realistic as possible. We plan for the worst possible scenario to ensure that you are fully prepared to deal with any challenges that you may face in a hostile or unfamiliar environment either in the country in which you are working or for wider travel to the region.
These courses are for groups of typically around 12-14 participants and this ensures the quality of training for you.
Subjects may vary with a mix of personal travel awareness and First Aid. Our First Aid modules are adapted to what you are doing in your workplace and where and how you are going to be working. It may include how to deal with basic trauma injuries such as those encountered in a road traffic collision or in a terrorist attack.
Subjects Include (amongst others)
- Planning
- Journey Management
- Conflict Management
- Personal Situational Awareness and Disengagement Skills
- Demonstrations and civil unrest
- Abduction / Hostage Situations
- High Impact Crimes
- Weapon Awareness
- Mines / IEDs / UXOs
- Medical training (EFAW) and Remote Trauma
- Health and Hygiene in Natural Disasters
Also known as HEFAT (Hostile Environment First Aid Training) or HEAT (Hostile Environment Awareness Training), these courses are a mixture of theory, discussion, case studies and scenario training with role play. We can include the award of the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate valid for 3 years.
These courses are typically 3 or 4 days and we can work through interpreters, so your staff can undertake their training in their own language. We can also translate all our training materials into most languages. We can run courses for your staff in your country at your offices or another convenient location nearby.
The longer course allows for more immersive training and role play/scenarios with the addition of subjects including dealing with local authorities, detention/arrest/kidnap protocols, communications, journey management planning, weapon awareness and use of body armour, surveillance and personal travel awareness.
What certification will you get?
- RPS Partnership Certificate of Attendance - you can provide as evidence for the risk assessment process as well as for insurance companies. It may well lower your insurance premiums
